It seems to me that your explanation is an apologetic for changes in church culture that no longer reflect the "common consent" attitude of the Restoration.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02429901511386748378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7825246518464864126.post-3353853079190010812015-04-13T16:10:52.325-07:002015-04-13T16:10:52.325-07:00Thus, when a person dissents, it says nothing to t...Thus, when a person dissents, it says nothing to their willingness to allow that person to fulfill his or her duties, but instead say they are not willing themselves to support and uphold that person in his or her duties. Sustaining a SHOULD be a time of introspection and self-evaluation, not an evaluation of another's capacity to complete a job.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7825246518464864126.post-63991246353703733162015-04-13T16:08:24.154-07:002015-04-13T16:08:24.154-07:00 It is not a vote, but a sustaining It is not a vote, but a sustainingAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7825246518464864126.post-77505988667315002182015-04-12T15:51:49.409-07:002015-04-12T15:51:49.409-07:00Great post, Josh! Honesty is only shocking where deception and self-censorship are the norm," yes, and especially galling when the institution is on the record as encouraging followers to believe in being honest and true. And to hear that things won't change when the institution is on the record that God will yet reveal many great and important things. Can't wait for your revelations in part 2.Nedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05938186985738546670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7825246518464864126.post-47118471922201025322015-04-12T13:48:02.042-07:002015-04-12T13:48:02.042-07:00A vote where everyone is always in 100% agreement ...A vote where everyone is always in 100% agreement with never an objection is not a serious vote. It is just a formality for a foredrawn conclusion, like what might happen in a totalitarian regime such as North Korea. Democracies are healthier political systems precisely because opposition requires people to justify their viewpoint. The Church would be a much better place if people could voice legitimate opposition without fear.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14364484623565981392noreply@blogger.com
